PEDIATRIC PHYSICAL THERAPY SERVICES
There are several conditions a child may have that will require support from a skilled pediatric therapist at Choice Therapy. Some children have difficulty with gross motor skills as a result of being born prematurely or have neurological impairments that can be the result of a genetic disorder or complications during birth. Below is a list of conditions pediatric physical therapy is recommended for:
• General developmental delays
• Gross motor delays, coordination problems
• Genetic disorders
• Muscle weakness
• Balance and gait issues
If you have a child who is not meeting their milestones or is experiencing physical challenges as a result of an underlying health condition or injury affecting their musculoskeletal system, pediatric physical therapy is a good option.
Choice Therapy’s ultimate goal is to ensure your child can live the highest quality life possible while keeping you in the loop regarding their treatment. We encourage parents to work with their children at home often, to ensure continued growth and progress.
Choice Therapy offers pediatric speech services to our patients. Several things can result in a child having deficits relating to speech, language, social skills, and pediatric feeding skills. Working in partnership with families, teachers, and health care providers, our therapists can pinpoint any underlying issues your child might have. Pediatric speech therapy can address the following speech conditions/difficulties:
• Muscle weakness or tightness in the lips, tongue or throat
• Speech sound errors that make it difficult to communicate
• Difficulty in understanding directions or questions
• Hoarse, breathy or tight voice for an extended period of time
• Chewing or swallowing difficulties (which poses a health risk)
• Difficulty expressing wants or thoughts
• Repetitions or blocks in some sounds or words (i.e. stuttering)
• Difficulty in social interactions with others
Pediatric speech therapists can help your child learn to communicate more confidently and effectively and support better, safer feeding skills. Our speech therapists use exercises and social interactions to help with a wide array of speech/language difficulties. They will be able to assess your child’s abilities, identify the problem, and then create a treatment plan individualized to your child and your family.
If your child is having difficulties with their speech, contact our office today to schedule an appointment with one of our pediatric speech therapists.
