Hand Therapy and Occupational Therapy

Hand therapy deals with treating conditions that affect a person’s ability to use their hand and arms. Common conditions that occupational therapists work with in this area include:

  • Factures
  • Cuts and amputations
  • Burns
  • Tendonitis
  • Rheumatoid arthritis
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome

All occupational therapists are qualified to treat these conditions without additional training, but some therapists choose to become Certified Hand Therapists through the Hand Therapy Certification Commission. Those who become certified must have at least three years of clinical experience, including 4,000 hours or more in direct practice in hand therapy.

Choice Therapy is lucky to have occupational therapist and Certified Hand Therapist Roberta Erickson at our Blackduck and Kelliher clinics. For more information, call (218) 835-3425.
